Pediatric Nephrologist Appointment

We had our appointment at Children's last week and were left feeling very positive about everything. It was nice to meet with the doctor before hand as I know how overwhelming having a baby and being sleep deprived can be. It looks like the approach is very simple, take early ultrasound of the kidney's and then wait and see. The doctor was very friendly and offered us lots of information and even said their view on MCDK children in sports is to encourage your child to try them and if they get to a competitive level that you can wear kidney protectors. He even went on to say that lots of professional athlethes have one kidney. This was good news to a father who dreams of having a boy with hopes he will one day play in the NHL!
