The Big Switch

When we first found out we were expecting, I knew by the time the L's baby brother or sister arrived we were going to have to make the BIG SWITCH - crib to toddler bed. We don't have the luxury of another room, so the two are going to have to share. If it were up to me, I would have kept her in the crib forever, but circumstance will not allow it. I researched options on the best switch, toddler bed or right to a twin and based on her age, we went with the toddler bed. I found a great option I liked on Craigslist and it has been set up in her room for months. We attempted several months ago, but she was not ready and I did not have the patience for it.

Fast foward to last week and I decided to give it a go.  It took three nights, but I am happy to report that she is now falling asleep and staying asleep, with no wake ups all night. I hope this post does not jinx us as the process has been easier than expected, even with trips to the Island, where she is still in her pack and play in between! I did have to take several toys out of her room, as she wants to play and it was less temptation, but so far it has been fantastic. I know her crib will soon have a new occupant, but steps like this show me that my little girl is growing up.

I’m sure we’ll eventually experience night wandering, bed joining, nap refusals, and the other misadventures that worry me.

But so far, so good. Next up - Potty training!

This is how I found her. She had pulled lots of her stuffies in and passed out. As you can see she is still in her Grobag (a wearable blanket). She calls it her Buddy and asks to wear it, so we are keeping it up for now (plus she can't get away too far when wearing it!)
