Island Kids

This Canada Day long weekend marked our family heading over to our island property on one of the most beautiful weekends of the year! Thank goodness for swims in the ocean and our kiddy pools because it was HOT HOT HOT!

We have many projects we would like to tackle this year but if we learned anything this weekend it was construction and small children do not mix. I would try to keep them away from J and his project but they kept wanting to see what he was doing and "help". Things did not progress as fast as J would have liked with the little ones underfoot. This weekends project was stairs up to our loft in our sleeping cabin. All made from wood from a tree J fell from our property and milled himself. They turned out awesome! Next up: back deck and outdoor shower area! We even got a visit from the local deer (thank goodness we put deer fencing on our new hedge) and J forgot to bring in the cooler and the raccoons walked off with all our food (yet again, really when will we learn!?!?) luckily we have great neighbors and it was near the end of the weekend so we did not starve!
