Lady A and MCDK

We have come along way since our 20 week ultrasound where they found cysts on our babies right kidney. Lady A arrived and was perfect in every way. At 9 days old we were sent to Children's Hospital for another ultrasound, her first without Mommie's belly getting in the way. We were told by the ultrasound tech that we would have a follow up with a specialist about the reports, two months from the ultrasound!! The tech could see our concern (really who wants to wait two months to find out a diagnoses). She told us, off the record that she was seeing the same as the inutero ultrasounds, Lady A, in fact has MCDK in her right kidney.

We wait our two months and after many pee diapers (I have never been so happee (ha ha) to change a wet diaper). Wet diapers mean kidney function, a good sign. Our appointment was fairly routine and she gets a urine sample, weight and an overall assessment from the doctor.  They have no concerns for her at all and the only thing we need to be aware of is her increased risk of a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). We have another appointment in June.  Any sign of a fever (a sign of infection) and we will take her to Children's for a urine sample. Going to Children's you really witness all sorts of illness so we feel blessed that our little girl is here and peeing!
